]]>These are a series of images made over time during several trips to Italy while teaching photography workshops there. My style is straight forward and documentary while working with composition, textures, lighting and of course, this unique subject matter.
This group of images summarizes my major themes: landscapes, city scenes, architectural details, grand panoramas, gardens and close ups in nature.

]]>We rarely look closely at things that are around us. If we did, we would discover a myriad of subtle hues, graceful lines and great textures creating fantastic compositions. I strive to see and show things in a new way. I look for the extraordinary in the mundane and have great respect for their intrinsic qualities.
Discovering my connection to abstract objects and natural forms has opened a new world for me with explorations into composition, color, light, and perspective.
These images may be abstract but I am not altering them in any way. They are basically straight photographs. It is my close-up point of view and attention to design that makes them appear to be almost abstract paintings or collages. I like to investigate small areas and work to create a balanced composition with the design elements of the subject and light along with careful positioning of the camera.
Many of these images can be printed quite large. I like printing them on canvas material to give them the look of large abstract paintings with a very modern and simple presentation.
